Spiritual Direction is an expression of spiritual friendship. In spiritual direction, you will have the opportunity to share your story and be heard. Being heard has the potential to be life transformative. That is the primary task of a Spiritual Director - to listen well.

Spiritual Direction also involves directing your attention to God. “Direction” does not mean telling another what to do. Rather, it involves directing your attention to God, noticing the movements of God in your life and listening to the invitations He may be making.

While there is no preplanned agenda in Spiritual Direction, various spiritual practices may be employed. Practices like; silence, Life Mapping, Lectio Divina, imaginative prayer, and others may be used at times.

The typical cadence for Spiritual Direction is to meet once a month for about an hour. Committing to meet for a year is encouraged. Like the spiritual journey, direction is slow and generally facilitates a slowing down of the pace of life. It may take time to settle in to a relationship with a director and discern its true value. Some direction relationships exist for a particular season of life, others for a lifetime.
